OJEA Summer Workshop — Broadcast/Online Strand
In this learning strand, participants will experience an online production cycle, from story pitching, to planning an online story package with interactive or multimedia elements, to producing content on a tight deadline, to publishing on the web.
Throughout the process, we’ll go over all of the challenges of advising an online student publication: production schedule, editing process, online-specific staff policies, finding and embedding online interactive elements, working with WordPress, and pushing kids to the next level. Social media strategy and mobile video production for social media will also be covered.
This session is appropriate for all levels: advisers looking to move their print journalism students to the web, those trying to start a new publication, or those with an existing publication who would like to improve their students’ website.
